District Fishing Competition 2011

Well done Ty-Lea, Jamie, Sam, Tom & Lucy who entered this years District Fishing Competition at Deal Pier.

Loads of sunshine, loads of wind, no fish! Looks like District had Mother Nature on their side for this one!

It was a lovely sunny morning but very very windy out on the pier which made conditions very difficult. The rods were blowing and bouncing around so much you wouldn’t have known if you had a bite. Everyone struggled with only six fish caught in the whole competition (think the Lug Worms we had as bait were bigger than a couple of the fish!). Sam did manage to catch a crab and Radar & Jackie managed a crab and a carrier bag between them. Lucy did land a couple of nice bits of seaweed but thats about as good as it got.

Even with the lack of fish it was a very enjoyable morning, hopefully next year we will have a few more Cubs and Scouts taking part.
