‘tri-ath-lon: Competition comprising of three events’

It’s about this time of year our Scouts bring in their PlayStations, Xboxes and Wii’s for a games night. This year for a change the night was arranged by Braces and armed with two projector’s, a large screen, three Wii’s and a Gadget, the Triathlon was born. Okay might not be a Triathlon in the traditional sense but it had three events and one was an extreme sport!

The patrols were moved around to give us four of equal numbers and with a few Scouts missing this week in came Bryony and Dan to make up the numbers, this still left one short, who would be black six? …… in stepped Point 5.

When all the scores are added up the patrol that wins each event gets 4 points, 2nd place 3 points, etc, etc, Patrol with highest score at the end wins.

So what events did they do?

They Mario carted, they danced and they snowboarded. It soon became clear that some of the recent team building exercises had gone out the window when it was not so much what can I do for my team but more how much can I beat Dan by! (Point 5). It was looking good for Dan in the Snowboarding but for some reason he suddenly went sideways just short of the finish line and Point 5’s arms were a loft having beaten him by 0.2 of a second! When the times from the Snowboarding were added up the difference between the patrol in 1st and the patrol in 4th was only 16 seconds.

Those arms were a loft again at the end of Mario Carts to scream’s of “first again” only for the joy to be short lived when the Scouts pointed out he was actually 11th.

Then there was the Just Dance which on a huge screen looked awesome. The same awesomeness did not seem to work it’s way down to the dancing. With the Scouts dancing four at a time and most of the others dancing at the sides it was quite a sight. For some reason 3 Scouts would be dancing as the instructions on the screen and one would appear to be doing something completely different, not sure what was going on! think they may have still been dancing to the previous song.

It was brilliant night and I’m sure the Triathlon will now become an annual Troop event.

So how did it finish? in 4th place was Red, in 3rd place was Black, in 2nd place was …….

See you Thursday night.
