Anglers Badge

Scouts, Cubs, Young Leaders & Leaders descended on Cottington Lakes for another round of the Anglers Badge.

Those Scouts that hadn’t all ready got their badge worked towards that, with the Cubs putting it towards their Invicta Challenge. Those that already had the badge just came along for a days fishing.

It was a glorious day and there was a steady stream of small Roach and Skimmer Bream being caught with the odd Carp thrown in. For some it was the first time they’d fished. They all had a great day learning to cast, when to strike, landing and unhooking the fish and a few even liked the maggots!!

At the end of the day everyone had caught something except for one lone Explorer/Young Leader, but after a few minutes in Gadget’s swim he was soon reeling in the Carp and finished the day with the biggest fish at 9 1/2 lb.

They all left with the rod and reel they had been fishing with and a few tales of the ones that got away. We think we’ve got a few ‘hooked’ as they were advising parents what else they now need for the next time they go!

A huge huge thank you to Cottington Lakes and Dragon Carp – Ramsgate for all their help and support in sorting the weekend.
