Cubs Team Building

The Cubs recently spent an fun filled evening at Ursuline College taking on some problem solving and team building exercises.

The first game was a fast and furious team effort  to  collect as many bean bags as you could whilst defending your own goal and stealing from opponents.  This resulted in some cheating or “colour blindness” as wrong beanbags were collected from wrong coloured hoops.   After this a second round took place with much better results.

The beanbag game was developed and in each team one person was blindfolded and had to rely on the team’s communication skills.     It was soon established that they can’t respond to “No this way”, No that way” with the teams frantically pointing.   Again with a little more thought they got the hang of it, for the third round no vocal signals were allowed and had to rely on code –  very amusing watching from the side.

After that the coaches built some brilliant assault courses and the teams had to respond by landing their plan (ie 3 cubs) without crashing into any tower, bridges etc, again good communication was the key here.  The final assault course was more like the old fashioned gun runs of the Royal Tournament, each team member playing their part to bring an item from one of the course to the other, the highlight of this was the little carts that the cubs had to pull themselves along with.   Even the leaders enjoyed having a go at that one.

Huge Thanks to Tom Hickman and his team at Ursuline for another entertaining evening.
