Beaver Sports Day

For the first time in some years 14th Broadstairs entered a team in the district sports day.

A strong team of 14 beavers took part – Jordan, Joseph, Ivy, Rachael, Meadow, George, Daisy, Lucy, Hannah, Jacob, Tyger, Matthew, Aliyah, Ellis.

After a walk from minster station to the campsite (yes it is a long way to carry your bag) we had a picnic in the shade and at 1 o’ clock we were off, sunhats and water bottles at the ready, it was hot!

Round 1 football skills, hurdles, beanbag throwing, sack race, obstacle course, hoop balance relay, bash the lid relay. Refreshments and then round 2 of the same events but this time we were more confident if a little fatigued.

All afternoon the beavers were well behaved, enthusiastic and committed. They supported each other and were getting into full voice with “mighty mighty Broadstairs” at the end of round 2.

Although we were unplaced they had competed in true spirit and if there was an award for lining up they would get it.

We then walked back to the station for the pickup (bags lighter this time).

It was a well organised fun event enjoyed by all, with 14 tired but happy beavers and 3 leaders leaving at the end of the day.

Thanks to the district for organising a great event and thanks to the parents for ensuring all had sun cream, hats and water bottles.

Training will start soon for 2017
