The cubs set off on a Friday night for a fun pked weekend at Kingswood to celebrate 100 years of Cubs along with other groups from East Kent.

On arrival and after a lovely dinner we were allocated our rooms, considered luxourious by some cubs and the fun commenced. They had fun making their beds and we all settled down for the night.

Saturday was a fun packed day with back to back activities and barely time for a toilet break!

We started with the nightline which involved a team blindfold challenge around a muddy obstacle course.

We then moved on to the climbing zone which we had a further opportunity to visit again later in the day,

On both ocassions many of the cubs faced their fear of heights and met the challenge face on. Activities in this zone were varied, there was the leap of faith which involved a leap to a trapeze from a very high platform, James showed huge determination to reach the top of this. There was Jacobs Ladder which was a giant ladder tat became more difficult the higher you went, champion of this was Ray who reaced the top and claimed it as his own. The seasaw was another high activity that saw teams of 2 climb to a sea saw where they were encoraged to dance and sing, Ivy and Michaela achieved this in the poring rain. the climbing wall was the last challenge and many of the cubs got to the top of this, Victoria and Verney were especially quick.

We then moved on to fencing where the cubs were taught the basics of the sport and challenged eac other to duells.

The team challenge was next and the cubs had to overcome fears and work together to scale obstacles, including some very high walls!

The day finished with the zip wire where most of the cubs leapt to an adrenaline fuelled ride down the wire. Special mention goes to George for overcoming his fear and finally taking a leap.

The cubs were exhausted and chose to miss the campfire in exchange for tuck in bed, a real treat.

After a good nights sleep activities started again with problem solving where the cubs had to work together to solve giant puzzles/chllenges.

After a final go in the climbing zone  Kaa and Akela gained their personal challenge by riding the 3 G swing . This involved the cubs hauling them up to a great height before dropping them at high speed!!! You may have heard them scream.

The last activity was orienteering, lets just say they need a bit more practice.

It was a fantastic weekend and all the cubs achieved above and beyond our expectations.

Thanks go to Kent Cubs for arranging the weekend.

It was a fantastic weekend and we enjoyed it so much we are now fundraising to return as a group in 2017 as part of our 40 year celebration, so lets start raising some money.
