Swimming Gala 2012

Last night saw our teams of Cubs and Scouts enter this years Thanet District Swimming Gala. This is one of the highlights of the District calendar but is a very difficult competition to win as you are up against Sea Scout Groups that spend six months of the year on water!

Cub SwimOur Cub team entered hoping to do well but it would be hard as the Cub event has been owned by Sea Scouts for the last five years! but with a few first places and a number of top three finishes they thought they stood a chance of making the top three. As the standings were read out from 11th up they smiles began to appear when they worked out they had a top three place, (they asked if theycould throw Rikki and Kaa in if they won!) the smiles got broader when they then had a top two place and the screaming soon commenced when 14th Broadstairs Cubs were name in first place, what an amazing result. Well done Amy, Tom, Niamh, Presley, Adam, Elliot, Ned and Sam what a great team effort, it’s only the second time 14th Broadstairs Cubs have won the trophy.

It was then the turn of our Scouts and like the Cubs it would be a hard competition as its usually dominated by the Sea Scout Groups but after a few first places and a number of top three finishes they had a chance of a high placing and indeed ending with a brilliant fourth place. A huge well done to Aidan, Rhys, Geena, Lauren, Joseph and George.

What a brilliant effort from both teams, a massive well done to you all.

Next up the District Cross Country in a couple of weeks.
