Cub Sleepover – Global Conservation

A fun 24 hours was spent by the cubs working toward their global conservation badge. After arriving on Friday afternoon we set out on a short walk to the park to mulch trees for the council and collect items for a collage.. The cubs worked hard and hopefully helped some of the young trees along the way. We returned to the hut to make collages, fat balls and learn about the countryside code. Following this the cubs gave their presentations on their chosen endangered species. All did well to stand up and talk as well as they did and much wa learnt in the process. We then sat down to tea before putting up tents ready for bed. The cubs then enjoyed a film whist feasting on hot chocolate and cake.

In the morning following a hearty breakfast the cubs packed up their lunch and we set off on our estimated 6 mile sponsored hike. We walked across farm land, through mud and horse muck and following a brief stop for lunch returned 4 hours later to the hut. On recalculation Akela re-estimated the distance to around 7 and a half miles! All the cubs did well and completed the distance so please collect their sponsor money in as soon as possible.

Overall a good 24 hours where all the cubs behaved well and gave it their best, well done! Here’s looking forward to cub camp later in the year.
