Kent Scouts It’s A Knockout

A team of 10 Scouts headed to the Kent Scouts It’s a Knockout Competition at Aylesford Sports College with Point 5, Gadget and Lucy as cheerleader in tow. For those that remember It’s a Knockout it was very similar with lots of nets to go under, inflatables to get over, puzzles to make, silly costumes and lots of water and bubbles during the afternoon session.

The day was made up of 12 different events and these were broken down into sessions of 3. In between the sessions there were breaks for lunch, a mass Cha Cha Slide and Macarena and towards the end of the day a massive Conga line going round the site. They also had a Hula Hoop contest were one member of the team stood on a box and had to Hula Hoop for as long as possible with points awarded for the top 3. Well done Rhys for coming third, he was only beaten by a girl that was hardly moving but the hoop looked like it was going to go on for ever and a lad who somehow managed to retrieve the hoop from below his butt on numerous occasions.

For each event they are scored for completing the task in a certain time or for the number of items retrieved. After a steady morning of scoring they then entered the water and foam filled afternoon sessions. Whilst others stepped into bubble pits our Scouts showed no fear and just dived in head first (all mad, but apparently the bubbles do make your hair soft !!). There were two competitions running top Scout Team and top team from Kent Youth Association and we are proud to say that our team took first place in the Scout Competition. They all received a Gold Medal and the group a trophy (an Olympic Mascot signed by Lord Sebastian Coe).

A huge well done to George, Lewis, Sam, Geena, Joesph, Lauren, Aidan, Tom, Rhys and Cameron.

Another title to defend in 2013!
